East China, excluding Shanghai, comprises the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, and Shandong. With a population of approximately 430 million and a combined GDP exceeding Renminbi 40 trillion, it is one of China’s most dynamic and economically powerful regions. The region is characterized by advanced manufacturing, export-oriented industries, innovative technology companies, and major seaports and logistics hubs.
German-Chinese cooperation is particularly strong across East China. German companies are active in the automotive, mechanical engineering, chemicals, electrical engineering, medical technology, environmental technology, and energy sectors. At the same time, both countries are expanding cooperation in emerging industries such as artificial intelligence, digitalization, smart manufacturing, battery technologies, and renewable energy. Supported by strong industrial clusters, excellent infrastructure, and a highly innovative business environment, East China is a key region for German-Chinese industrial and technological collaboration.
