The metropolitan region of Nuremberg has 3.5 million inhabitants, 103 billion euro GDP, roughtly 150,000 companies, and about 1.8 million workers, making this region one of the strongest economic areas in Germany.
In addition to a successful partnership with Shenzehn, the Nuremberg metropolitan region has spun a wide network of cooperation with China. An example is the partnership between Jingjian and the West Middle Franconia since 2005. Also since 2008, The Beijing City Changping District has an agreement in the field of transportation and logistics, and a contract with the central government in Beijing to train Chinese personnel as energy and environmental managers.
About 600 companies in the Nürnberg region are active in China businesses. More than 200 of the business are long term commitments in the forms of representative offices, branches, factories, or joint ventures. To our knowledge, currently around 15 commercially registered Chinese companies are located in the Nuremberg area.
